Starting Up: How Do I Attract People to my Site

There are many different ways to go about managing your own website. Some people own a site to advertise their business, and others go the route of promoting a passion with their site. Your sites content is determined by you. The first thing to think about is: What am I making this website for? You want the name of your website to be related to the things you are going to talk about on the site, as well as be something that is simple and easy to remember. Something like "www.computergames.com" would be an excellent domain name for a site related to computer and video gaming. Just like blogger is for blogging. The easier the name is to remember, the easier it will be to market, because people can refer people to your site from memory.

The next step, after deciding what name is appropriate for your target audience, is choosing a domain. You can get a domain for about ten dollars a month, on average. If you would like to purchase a domain now, >>  click here and hit sign up free on the bottom of the page to get one.

After you have bought a domain, you need to put a site on it. You can either script your own website in HTML and use tools such as Adobe Dreamweaver and Adobe Flash to make it look appeasing; or you can use site builder tools (which the link I offered has included when you sign up) to put together a website that suits you best.

Once the site has been built and is running properly, host it on your domain. This is the point at which the site will be live, and in running order.

Now is the time to spread out your network and market your site effectively. Spamming people can be a major drawback on site popularity, and is not recommended. However, there are legitimate ways that are more effective than spamming which can increase your websites traffic and help market your site effectively.

An excellent tool that is free to use is Youtube, which you can use to make videos and get people interested in you site. Just make a simple video talking about what your site is about, and speak to your audience about what your site has to offer that might interest them. Talk about what is new with your site this week and keep it up to date alongside each video to help people get acquainted with what is on your site.

Another excellent tool, being used right here, is blogger, write blogs about what you are doing on your site and use it to be like a news update for your site. On the side, you can generate ad revenue if you monetize your blog (which I highly recommend). Monetizing allows your blog to have adsense ads on it that pay your account money every time an ad is clicked. This allows for your blog to generate revenue alongside your site. If you own a site for personal reasons and do not care to carry ads for revenue, then just leave it for your personal needs, and make it a personal blog. All in all, the freedom is still yours to do as you choose with your site.

Forums that are related to your sites focus are another great way to network with people about what you want to promote. You can talk with millions of people on them, and in turn make some friends you can refer to your site. Most forums also let you include your website on your profile. Once you make a decent network of friends, many people will view your profile and see your site as listed on the profile. This will attract traffic in a good way if the forum is related to your site especially.

You can also work with affiliate marketing teams to help market your site across the net. Some of these teams can cost money for their marketing, however, if they are a legitimate business, they can take your site far and wide and get some visitors to your site.

Owning your own website will market you message and pay you well if you persist. It just takes some effort to get started, but once things are built, there is more potential to prosper. Don't give up trying if you really want to make it at this, as you will see results from your work in due time. Good luck and best wishes!
